By now, the feelings of excitement were raising. Yes, it was Seungri!!! The fans screamed when the large screen showed clips of Seungri’s MV for VVIP. Dressed in a handsome black suit, the maknae performed “VVIP”, “Strong Baby” and “What Can I Do”. Seungri is no doubt the king of fan service!!! He even greeted everyone in English. During the interview, DJ Jeff asked him if he would like to come back to Malaysia again and Seungri replied that he would like to live in Malaysia!! He really knows how to please the fans.
As always, the grand finale went to GD&TOP. They were definitely the main highlights of the show. Screams were really loud when clips of them came on the large screen but it was booming when GD&TOP appeared on stage!!! It is safe to say that 70% of those who attended the concert were VIPs!! Their screams and cheers were loud enough to rock the whole stadium and anywhere within 5km radius… GD&TOP started their performances with “Knock Out” followed by “Oh Yeah” but with only Park Bom’s over voice. Wouldn’t it be great if Park Bom was at the concert too? GD&TOP gamely posed with DJ Jeff for photos. DJ Jeff even urged fans to snap photos of them together. Both GD&TOP spoke some English during the interview, they sounded so cute!!
All hell broke loose when GD&TOP performed “High High”. Fans suddenly all rushed to the front, gathering at the gate, some even stood on the gate to get a better view. The poor Rela guard was pushed away. Fans at the back were standing on the chairs.
By now it was almost impossible to take any photos. I’m not a very tall person and with all the fans waving their hands, fans, cheering sticks and placards, views were blocked. Everyone sang along to High High, bringing the climax to the maximum!!! Instead of the paper scissors rock game, TOP hugged GD!!. I’m not sure if this is pre-planned but GD seemed surprised by the hug. When the song was over, the lights on the stage went off and GD&TOP went off-stage. Suddenly TOP turned back briefly and said “thank you” to the fans. The fans started charting “encore! encore! Big Bang! We want more!” The lights came on and DJ Jeff and the Korean DJ came on stage and told everyone that the concert has ended and bid good bye to everyone.
Refusing to leave, we waited and waited for the much anticipated encore even after the lights on stage were turned off and Galaxy Group staffs gathering up the plastic chairs. There was tension in the air as fans waited and continued to shout for encore from GD&TOP and Seungri. But alas…there was no encore at all. Sorely disappointed, disgruntled fans started to leave. But some unsatisfied fans lingered near the artists’ resting tents, hoping to catch a glimpse of GD&TOP and Seungri leaving. There were 2 white vans waiting with police escorts. Fans started shouting Big Bang! Jiyong oppa!! TOP!! Seungri!! hoping to get their attention. But the Rela guards chased the fans away, telling them to leave. Just then there were some screaming and we saw GD &TOP leaving by another exit!!! TOP was following behind GD and he even waved to the fans.
And that’s it…. the concert was really over. I have mixed feelings about this Korean Music Wave concert. While I am really happy to be able to see GD, TOP and Seungri in person, I am left with some disappointments too. Firstly, when my friends went to the Galaxy Group office to purchase the concert tickets on Aug. 31st, they were given Row C. When my friend Karmen questioned why not Row A or B since she was the third person in the queue to purchase the ticket. Galaxy Group staffs told her that Row A and B were reserved for sponsors. But on the actual concert day, we found out that Row A and B were occupied by fans who bought their tickets through fanclubs!!! So these fanclubs are the so-called “sponsors” mentioned by Galaxy Group??? I felt really unfair about this. So fans who sacrificed hours queuing to purchase the tickets are not a priority?? I’m going to make a complaint about this to Galaxy Group!!
Secondly, while other artists performed at least 4 songs, Seungri and GD&TOP only performed 3 songs each. Why so little compared to the other artists? Honestly I was really expecting more from them and to me, the concert seemed to end abruptedly.
Those who attended the concert, care to share your thoughts and feelings about it?
